Your presenters for this seminar are Lisa Bloom and Kristina L. Petrocco-Napuli. Their session on brain-based learning at the 2012 Teaching Professor Conference was one of the most highly attended and top rated workshops of the conference.
Lisa Bloom, DC, FIACN, is a Fellow of the International Academy of Chiropractic Neurology. She is a Ph.D. student in higher education and holds a diploma and board certification from the International Board of Chiropractic Neurology as well as a diploma in applied chiropractic sciences. A winner of multiple faculty excellence awards, Dr. Bloom serves as a board member of the International Academy of Chiropractic Neurology. She is the creator of the YouTube NeuroDocUniverse channel, which focuses on improving clinical mastery of neurological examination and diagnosis. Bloom is a professor in the Clinical Sciences Department at New York Chiropractic College.
Kristina L. Petrocco-Napuli, DC, MS, holds a bachelor of science degree in physiological sciences from the University of Arizona. She graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 2003 and earned her master’s degree in instructional design, development, and evaluation from Syracuse University. Currently, Petrocco-Napuli is an associate professor as well as director for the Academy for Teaching Excellence (ATE) at New York Chiropractic College, where she assists faculty in course design, development, and innovative instructional strategies. She has presented at numerous conferences such as The Teaching Professor; Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Professional and Organizational Development; The Lilly Conference on Higher Education; and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges/Research Agenda Conference.
In this seminar Bloom and Petrocco-Napoli discuss current literature and educational theory surrounding brain-based teaching. They also demonstrate the concepts by modeling them and directly applying them in problem-solving scenarios.
