This report begs an important question - what is the purpose of exams? The authors list a number of percieved benefits of collaborative testing such as relationship building, increased camaraderie and decreased anxieity. While we want students to have these benefits, this is not the purpose of exams. We test students to evaluate their knowledge. We should not shy away from holding students to a standard where they have to demonstrate knowledge without a colleague reminding them of material they have forgotten.
