GoodReader is a great app. However, there is apparently a maximum amount of space which the iPad will allow GoodReader to use. I know, because I reached that maximum and the iPad will not allow me to drag and drop any more files from my laptop. (Yes, I have many, many articles collected.) Yesterday, I was able to e-mail an article to myself and save it from my iPad e-mail into GoodReader. Hwver, one of the attractions of GoodReader was the ability to drag and drop multiple files at once, instead of e-mailing them one at a time. And will I only be able to e-mail a couple more articles before that also locks me out?

I have not checked lately, just in case GoodReader and the iPad have relented on this maximum limit.

I love Goodreader for research purposes, and in fact can't imagine how I read and kept notes before. I keep articles organized in a dropbox folder that I sync with Goodreader, so if I find an article on iPad or on my computer, I can sync back and forth between my computer's hard drive and my ipad. To automate the citation process, I use the incredible (and free!) Mendeley on my desktop. I set mendeley to "watch" my dropbox article folders. That way, every time I fire up Mendeley on my desktop it automatically recognizes any new files I've put in those folders and creates the citations for them. Finally, I email my goodreader notes to my evernote account so I can have those notes available anywhere. Its amazing what you can do with a 4.99 app and a few other free ones :)

I love Goodreader. For the word doc annotation, consider saving documents as a PDF before uploading to Goodreader, then you have all the tools available.

I'm starting to make lists for my Comprehensive Exams (with my Dissertation topic in mind), and this post is so useful--especially since I just bought an iPad! I had been asking around about bibliographic software, but I didn't realize that a Google Research feature existed. I also assume that by the time I reach any important milestones in my upcoming academic years, something will go wrong that will cause me strife, so knowing I can back everything up to Drop Box, Sugar Sync, and Google Drive sounds perfect. Thanks for this post!
